EDUCATION & OUTREACH
Dr. Cheick M. Diarra
The Mars Exploration Office education and public outreach program has been
implemented so far in Arizona, Geogia, Hawaii, Ohio, and West Virginia.
In those states, the program has been providing some aspects of the following
sevices:
- Student Support: activities that expose students to NASA's mission
- Teacher Enhancement: workshops designed to enhance teachers knowledge
and skills resulting in positive student outcomes
- Systemic Change: especially in the area of educational technology. The
program also informs the public about NASA's exploration efforts at townhall
meetings. Locally, in southern California, our enthusiastic speakers are
available to inform the public about NASA's wonderful technological and
scientific programs, and to help motivate the students.
Also, beginning in May 1995 a special e-mail address will be set up for
the general public to send questions to our office regarding scientific
concepts, space science, astronomy, physics and to clear up any misconceptions
about science subjects in general. E-mail address available in May is: mepeducat@jpl.nasa.gov
To arrange for a speaker for a classroom presentation or a townhall meeting,
