Sol 46 was a day of rest for the Mars Pathfinder lander and rover. Due to lack of available antenna time at the Deep Space Network, no activities were planned for Sol 46.

Earth rise was at 3:35 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) 19 August, and the lander awoke at 8:12 p.m. The Earth set below the Martian horizon at 4:55 a.m. PDT on 20 August.

Though no downlink was planned, an uplink session was radiated from the 34 meter antenna at Canberra, Australia. The mission instructions for Sol 47 were sent that will investigate the possible computer reset conditions that were evident during Monday's session.
